HMRC have updated their website at:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-a-grant-through-the-coronavirus-covid-19-self-employment-income-support-scheme#claim
They set out the requirements, as previously mentioned, in blogs below.
Under the above link you can check your eligibility as follows:
- Go to “Check Eligible to Claim”
- Click on “Check Now”
- you will need your UTR and NIC numbers to do this – these can be found at the top left hand corner on the first page of your tax return;
- It will ask you to set up a Government Gateway ID, if you do not already have one. You will need to do this as you will need it when you make the claim;
- It will then advise whether you are eligible and the date and time from which you can make the claim;
- When you make the claim you will need:
- UTR number;
- NIC number;
- To log on line through your Government Gateway; and
- Your bank details – to make the payment to.
You can not access the financial support yet.
If eligible, you will receive an email from HMRC between 13 and 18 May to make the claim.
Please be wary of scams – HMRC point out:
“We are aware of an increase in scam emails, calls and texts. If someone gets in touch claiming to be from HMRC, saying that financial help can be claimed or that a tax refund is owed, and asks you to click on a link or to give information such as your name, credit card or bank details, please do not respond. You can forward suspicious emails claiming to be from HMRC to phishing@hmrc.gov.uk and texts to 60599.”
